Emergency crews across New York are on alert today as the threat of rough weather looms, and officials are urging residents to prepare.
Pete Cichetti, acting director of the New York State Office of Emergency Management, said residents should closely monitor forecasts.
“Pay attention to your local forecast throughout the day today to know if that flood watch turns to a flood warning in your area or a flash flood warning. We want people to know their evacuation routes,” Cichetti said.
He also recommended keeping a phone charger and a “go bag” with essential items in your car in case conditions worsen.
