Police chase ends with crash, hours-long standoff in Clarkstown

A police chase ended with a crash and an hours-long standoff overnight in Rockland County, according to authorities.
Haverstraw police say they received a report of a domestic incident involving a gun late Saturday night. Prior to their arrival, the suspect took the firearm and fled in a vehicle.
The pursuit lasted nearly an hour before the driver crashed around 1:30 a.m. on North Main Street in Clarkstown. Police say the driver then refused to exit the vehicle.
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Swat Team was called to the scene. The standoff lasted several hours before the suspect was taken into custody.
Police say one officer was injured during the chase and hospitalized for treatment.
