New and old skaters alike gathered at 2nd Nature Skate Park in Peekskill Saturday for the Tony Hawk Video Game Immersive Experience.
Organizers say the event, which was open to all skill levels, is themed around the Tony Hawk video game series. Hawk is one of the greatest and most influential skateboarders of all time.
"This is a community-based event. We designed it for all ages. You don't have to be a skater to be a part of this event. You can also participate if you like video games or if you like good food," said 2nd Nature owner Jonathan DiCarlo.
Maeve Schnecker, 9, of Ossining, has been skateboarding for the last three years.
"When you fall and you get back up – and when you land, it feels so good,” she explained.
The day featured live music and opening remarks from local skateboarding legend Vinny Raffa.
