Central Hudson Gas & Electric will pay $5 million for a 2023 gas explosion in Wappingers Falls.

State regulators said the blast happened after contractors hit a gas line, causing a home to explode minutes later.

Fifteen people were hurt, and nearby buildings were damaged.

Under the settlement, the company admitted it did not follow proper safety rules and agreed to fund safety upgrades to prevent future disasters.
