A bicyclist was fatally struck in Yorktown on Route 134 Thursday morning.
"It's just so sad, it's horrible," says Patti Small, who lives nearby.
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. Police say the bicyclist was hit in the roadway by a vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the car, a 21-year-old, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital. Police have not released her condition.
"I urge the public to not demonize the driver without having all the facts because I think that people are jumping to conclusions from what I'm reading online," says Yorktown Town Supervisor Ed Lachterman.
The identities of those involved haven't been released.
Yorktown police say the incident remains under investigation.
